Hilltribe Museum and Education Centre

Hilltribe Museum and Education Centre is run by a nonprofit organization called the Population and Community Development Association (PDA) with the intention of teaching people about the hilltribes and strengthening the their position in Thai society. The centre exhibits local crafts, all of which are for sale, and also provides information through slideshows (in a number of languages, including English) and anthropological displays. This is a good place to visit if you are intending to set out on an extended trek to visit the northern hilltribes, alternatively, if you don’t have the time for such a trip it will provide a short-cut to the hilltribe experience. If your interests lie elsewhere, it’s not likely to be a place high on your priority list.

Details: The centre is open Monday to Friday from 09.00 am - 06.00 pm and 10.00 am - 06.00 pm. on Saturday and Sundays. Admission is 50 Baht.

How to get there: Mae Sa Waterfall is about 25 kilometers north of Chiang Mai on the Mae Rim-Samoeng Road. A number Songtaews are available from the city to the waterfall.
